Card in a Box using Tonic Fae Fairy Butterfly Purse Corner Dies

The new Verso Butterfly Purse Corner Dies are just perfect for making a Card in a Box, especially when combined with the enchanting new Fairy Semis Dies from Tonic Studios. So I couldn't think of anything more special or appropriate to use when making a very special 70th Birthday card for my lovely Aunt Ann.

Card Recipe:
Colouring Mediums: Encore Metallic Ink Pad
Paper and Card: Stardream, KandCo designer paper
Tools: Tonic Studios Die Sets - Butterfly Purse Corner DiesFae Hideaway Indulgence Semi Dies, Layering Butterfly Dies, Layering Circle and Square DiesGrand Calibur, Cameo Silhouette
Embellishments: rhinestone crystals

If you've not seen one of these Card in Box cards before, you're probably wondering how I posted this my aunt, but look how it folds down completely flat for posting (in a padded envelope).

I will post a step-by-step tutorial on how to make this project, so keep following my blog to see this.  However, I will say that both the Layering Square and the new Verso Corner Dies do make this so much easier.

I made my box from a sheet of A3, as I do like B I G  cards, so my final card was 20cmx22cm.  When flat, it fitted snuggly but perfectly into the medium-sized padded envelopes that I buy in the pound shop!

The key to this style of card is to have lots of different levels and layers to create the appearance of fullness, and the new range of verso corner dies by Tonic are so absolutely perfect for the job.
I combined the corners with die cuts from the ever-useful layering butterfly dies plus an enchanting faerie, which I snipped out of the Fae Hideaway Semi Die and glittered her wings.
I used a gorgeous set of KandCo designer papers - I think these were amongst the first KandCo papers that I ever bought, many moons ago, and I still think that they are so very pretty.

I cut the 70 sentiment on my Cameo Silhouette, decorated it with rhinestone crystals and mounted it onto a scallop circle die cut.

Here's one last look at the Card in a Box.
