Mother's Day Card - Gilding the Lily?

There's a version 1 and a version 2 of this card, perhaps you'd let me know which you prefer?

Card Recipe:
Paper and Card: Deja View, oyster card, textured pearl card
Tools: Tonic Studios Die Sets - Affections Heart On Mother's Day, Monarch Arch, Gothic Border Punch, Grand Calibur

Embellishments: rhinestone crystals, Zva Swirl, Organza Ribbon

So I made this Clean & Simple Card for Mother's day by die-cutting 3 evenly spaced heart cut-outs from a strip of lime green textured pearl card after decorating the long edges my favourite Gothic Border punch.  I then adhered Deja Views patterned paper behind the apertures and mounted the strip onto my card base with 3D foam.

I finished the card with a die-cut from the Affections Heart On Mother's Day die set plus contrasting butterflies using a butterfly from the Monarch Arch die set.  A few crystals and a Zva crystal swirl completed this CAS card.

I photographed my card for this post and put it to one side in my craft room.  And there is sat, calling to me, calling me, calling me...."Add more, I'm just not finished"....

Regular readers of my blog will know that clean and simple is just not my natural style, I am much more fussy and fancy!  So after two days (in fact, this afternoon, just as I was settling down to write this post), I just had to add more!  I limited myself to three more crystals and a small organza bow, but I personally feel happier with this "bit more", it seems more balanced to my eyes.

So is less more?  Have I gilded the lily?  Which version do you prefer?

Hope you all have a great weekend.

  1. They are both lovely, Dips, but I would have had to tie my hands behind my back NOT to add the bow and the gems!! Happy weekend!
